What Does an Executive Wellness Assessment at Total Body Works Include?

At Total Body Works in Colorado Springs, our fitness assessment measures strength, endurance, flexibility and mobility. We also use movement screening before starting a training program. For a busy executive, these steps help turn a broad goal such as “get back into exercise” into specific priorities for personalized training.

This is fitness planning, not an executive medical examination. Questions about symptoms, health conditions or the suitability of a therapy need guidance from your licensed healthcare professional.

Your Goals, Activity Background and Schedule

A useful starting point connects what you want to accomplish with what your week actually allows. We listen to your individual needs and build personalized training programs rather than assigning everyone the same routine.

To make that conversation practical, think through:

  • Your current activity: What exercise you do now, what you enjoy and what has been difficult to maintain.
  • Your work routine: Desk time, travel and periods when your schedule becomes less predictable.
  • Your priorities: Building strength, improving endurance, moving more comfortably through everyday activities or establishing a consistent exercise habit.
  • Your availability: Regular openings in your calendar, including the time needed to travel to and from training.
  • Relevant limitations: Any exercise restrictions already provided by your healthcare professional.

Specific goals make planning easier. “Build a consistent training routine during travel-heavy months” presents a different scheduling problem from “improve endurance for weekend hikes.” The first calls for a workable routine across changing weeks; the second gives training a particular activity to prepare for.

Workload and stress can also affect how exercise fits into your day. Our discussion of how stress physically affects the body and what executives can do about it explores that related topic.

Movement Screening and Fitness Assessment

Movement screening and fitness assessment provide different kinds of information. A movement screening looks at how you perform movements. A fitness assessment establishes a starting point for abilities such as strength and endurance. Together, they inform exercise selection and training priorities.

Our fitness assessment covers:

  • Strength: Your current ability to work against resistance.
  • Endurance: Your ability to sustain physical effort.
  • Flexibility: The available range of movement in your muscles and joints.
  • Mobility: How you actively move through a range of motion.

Our training philosophy is to “build the engine first.” We emphasize strength, stability, functional movement and flexibility before progressing toward more demanding training. Functional movement means movement that supports everyday tasks, such as standing up, carrying items and using stairs.

Daily activity provides context for these observations. If you sit for more than 6 hours per day, noting how often you get up gives a fuller picture than listing your workouts alone.

Turning the Starting Point Into a Training Plan

The useful outcome of an assessment is not simply a set of measurements. It is a clearer understanding of what to work on first and how to fit that work into your routine.

A practical plan connects the findings to three decisions:

  • Exercise priorities: Which movements and fitness qualities deserve attention first, based on your starting point and goals.
  • A repeatable schedule: Training times that fit ordinary workweeks, with realistic expectations during travel or especially demanding periods.
  • Meaningful progress measures: Changes that relate to your goal, such as improved control during an exercise, more resistance with consistent technique or greater endurance during a familiar activity.

We offer customized one-hour personal training sessions. When considering how those sessions fit your calendar, include travel and preparation time rather than counting only the hour spent training.

We do custom packages, and someone from our staff will reach out to discuss further.

Where Additional Services Fit

Alongside personal training, we offer massage therapy, ARPwave therapy and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, also called HBOT. Our massage services are provided by licensed massage therapists. More information appears on our page about therapeutic services that are particularly well-suited to the demands of executive life.

Keep the purposes distinct: an exercise plan organizes your training, while a separate service has its own scope. A movement screening is not a diagnosis and does not, by itself, establish a need for a particular therapy.

Preparing for the Assessment

Comfortable clothing that allows movement is a practical choice. A short set of notes can also make the discussion more useful:

  • Your main fitness goal and why it matters in daily life.
  • A typical week of exercise and other physical activity.
  • The training times you could realistically maintain.
  • Upcoming travel or workload changes that could affect consistency.
  • Questions about exercises you find unfamiliar or difficult.

There is no need to make your current routine sound more active than it is. An accurate starting point is more useful for planning than an ambitious description of what you hope to do.

Can This Support a Corporate Wellness Program?

We offer a corporate wellness program in Colorado Springs as well as individual personal training. An individual assessment focuses on one person’s starting point. Planning for a team also involves shared schedules, different goals and a range of fitness levels.

For a leadership group or wider team, the key distinction is between a shared wellness initiative and identical exercise programming. People can participate in the same initiative without needing the same exercises, resistance or pace.
